Anthony S. Davis is Associate Dean for Research for the College of Forestry at Oregon State University. He is responsible for the strategic development and execution of innovative, effective, and respected research programs to help achieve the research mission of the College, Forest Research Laboratory, and the Institute for Working Forest Landscapes.
Dr. Davis, who also serves as Professor of Forestry, Engineering, Resources, and Management, is recognized globally as a leader in native plant nursery production and the behavior of plants under varied environmental conditions, specifically for the restoration of degraded ecosystems and improved forest regeneration practices. Working with an outstanding team of graduate students and research scientists, as well as collaborators from across academia, agencies, and private industry, the Davis Lab Group aims to conduct research that leads to better understanding of plant development and improves regeneration success via the sustainable use, conservation and restoration of native plants and their habitats.
In addition to his work in the Pacific Northwest, he has active projects in Armenia, Haiti, Hawaii, Jordan, Lebanon, and Togo.
Prior to joining Oregon State University, he was the Tom Alberg and Judith Beck Chair in Natural Resources at the University of Idaho, where he also served as Director of the Center for Forest Nursery and Seedling Research. Dr. Davis has a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of New Brunswick and a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy from Purdue University.
