I hail from Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.

Over the past 15 years I have been employed in many capacities - I have run a hockey card shop, organized rock concerts, managed a garden centre, owned and operated a tree planting company, worked for a tree preservation group, an auctioneer, as a tree grower, and most recently, as a forestry research technician. More detail can be found on my curriculum vitae.

I enjoy hiking, camping, and travelling, as well as listening to music (right now, I am listening to Belle and Sebastian, Corwin Fox, Rheostatics, David Gray, the tragically Hip, Wilco, and Ben Folds). I collect paintings, especially those of landscapes from Canada. Works by the Group of Seven, Emily Carr, Martin Tielli, Bruno Bobak, Herzl Kashetsky, Jack Humphrey, and Tom Thompson are among my favourites.

The greatest day of my life was 1 September 2001. Although every day seems to provide stiff competetion.

As an undergrad at the University of New Brunswick, I was able to travel to Chile ( read all about it) and Spain, which sparked an interest in both the global impact that North American forest practices have on other countries and in the global variation in forest management issues and techniques.

I am a proud member of the Canadian Institute of Forestry and the Society of American Foresters.
